Mission Proton Energy seeks to fuel the next generation of scientific innovation by recognizing and awarding high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement, excellence and promise in the field of science or technology, and who plan to pursue further education in this field. Each year, the Hydrogen Education Foundation selects from a field of applicants Proton Energy Scholars and Honorable Mentions who will be awarded undergraduate scholarship prizes. The Proton Energy Scholarship program is supported and funded by Tom Sullivan, founder of Lumber Liquidators and current owner of Proton Energy Systems. In its pilot year, Proton Energy is accepting applications from U.S. residents. The Foundation’s mission is to enable outstanding, promising and financially needing high school seniors to pursue higher education in the field of science and/or technology. General Guidelines The Hydrogen Education Foundation will award undergraduate scholarship prizes up to $100,000 total for up to four years. Honorable Mentions awarded prizes of $500. The awards will be made on the basis of merit and financial need to outstanding high school seniors who intend to pursue further education in the field of science and technology, including engineering. To be considered, a student must fully complete the scholarship application and provide all required information, including official transcripts, original essay and recommendations. Each scholarship covers eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board at the designated amount. Scholarship monies not used during one academic year are not transferable to the succeeding academic year. Each scholarship prize is one to four years in length, and to be eligible for renewal, students must remain enrolled fulltime and meet all criteria of standard academic progress as established by their university. The student must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have a declared major in a science or technology related field. |
